STARS Life Skills Currriculum

STARS Life Skills Curriculum  The primary purpose of the STARS Program is to offer students in grades 2-12 “Life Coaching” learning experiences along with career- and college-readiness, academic assistance activities, as well as enrichment classes such as art, fitness, digital media, and music.

In this project we are using a team approach to identify fundamental elements students must know and be able to do at each stage of the developmental process. Our goal is to generate a life skills curriculum framework to inspire students to make good choices throughout their elementary, middle school, and high school learning experiences. Life coaching classes are intended to offer students opportunities to gain a greater understanding of themselves, explore the dynamics of relationships, acquire insights into setting and achieving short- and long-term goals, and creating a personal plan of action.

Student Learning Outcomes

1) Develop self-awareness and self-management skills to achieve school and life success.

2) Use social-awareness and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive relationships.

3) Demonstrate decision-making skills and responsible behaviors in personal, school, and community contexts.
